Columbus High Yield

The Columbus High Yield program seeks to utilize high yield bond mutual funds in an actively managed strategy using trend-based research. When market conditions are favorable, up to 100% of client assets are placed in corporate high yield bond mutual funds. When conditions are not favorable, 100% of assets are moved to a money market fund. When applied to a Variable Annuity investment account, the corresponding or available sub-accounts will be used.
A high yield bond is a corporate bond rated as being below investment grade (BB through to CCC or UR) by an independent rating agency and therefore carries a higher risk of default. These bonds pay a higher interst rate to compensate investors for assuming greater risk..

Risk Assessment

Each asset class has specific or inherent risks. Two risks associated with corporate bond instruments are credit risk and interest rate risk. The active management approach of the Columbus High Yield Bond Investment Program strives to reduce the volatility in the high yield debt market. The program does not utilize inverse or leveraged positions which further lowers the risk profile.

Please consult your financial advisor for help deciding which program may be suitable for you.
